This page is a comparison of our information with the information at http://members.aol.com/haleroots/familytree.html After going through and organizing all their notes it appears they are following JOHN SR > JOSEPH > THOMAS > SAMUEL DEVINE HALE > LUTHER.
They are descendants of " THOMAS HALE and ELIZABETH DEVINE."

Unfortunately, not the line that we are following. Our line goes from JOHN SR > JOHN JR > LEVI SR > DAVIS HALE > JAMES MASTERS HALE > JAMES EARL HALE

A major discrepancy was in their listing of John Hale Jr. and Mary Willis's children, which are totally different than ours, except for Levi Sr. Then they have a huge breakdown for John W. Hale, (who is suppose to be the 8th child of John and Mary), but we do not have this info.
They have an extensive breakdown of Edward Hale, which they name as brother to John Sr.

Another discrepancy was the listing of Thomas Hale and Jane Armstrong's children. Our tree says that the ones listed are the children of the oldest son John Hale.

Our notes:
LEVI Sr(son of John Jr and Mary Willis)
and THOMAS (son of Joseph & Nancy Willis)
are first cousins of the same clan of Hales who
came to Mercer Co. KY in 1785 from
Botetourt Co. VA, where it appears
that John Hale Jr., Levi's father and
John Hale Sr., Levi's grandfather, both
served in the Revolution. The name Levi,
and the name Thomas, are used several
times in the family. I believe this mixup
of cousins and uncles is how the first entry
into the DAR made it's mistake, and it has
been compounded with each new applicant.

Central Library Reference Book
Josiah Hale MD, a retired physician
of Owensboro, KY., born in Ohio
County, Kentucky, January 25, 1829.
His parents were CALEB and SALLY (HUFF) HALE, both natives of
Virginia, but came in childhood to
Kentucky, with their parents. Caleb Hale's father was ARMSTRONG HALE who was born in London, England, but came to America settling first in Virginia and in 1800 in Ohio County, Ky. He was a farmer all his life. Caleb Hale was also a cabinet maker. He was a Whig and took an interest in all public questions. He was Sheriff of Ohio County, where he passed his whole life.
Josiah Hale graduated from the University of Louisville in 1856. He began practice in Fordsville, Ky and later removed to Hartford Ky. until 1863, when he took a post graduate course in New York and then locate in Owensboro, Ky. Josiah Hale married Nancy Willis in Ohio County, Ky. in 1852. She died in 1862. In 1873, Josiah Hale married Emily McHenry, daughter of Judge John H. McHenry, of Hartford. Three children, Emma, and Bettie, deceased, and one living, Mary, who married J A Dean.
